Community Guidelines and Code of Conduct:

General Expectations:


● All members of the Bridge The Heart Community must respect and be sensitive to each other's cultural backgrounds and personal value systems; keeping in mind their personal dignity.
● All members must maintain confidentiality of sensitive or personal information shared by members during mentorship and BTH activities and must not disclose these information under any circumstances.
● All members must refrain from engaging in any inappropriate conversations or activities that put themselves and others in danger or uncomfortable situations.
● All members must not participate in substance abuse and any illegal activities under Canadian laws.
● In addition to all general expectations, members are expected to use their best judgement during in-person and online meetings

General Expectations: (Mentors)


● Orientation: meet with mentee (and parent/guardian) at an arranged time to discuss meeting times, your role, get to know them.
● You must keep your mentee's discussions confidential.
● You must report to contact.bridgetheheart@gmail.com anything that puts your mentee(s) or others in danger.
● You must refrain from engaging in any inappropriate conversations or activities that put yourself and your mentee(s) in danger or uncomfortable situations.

For BTH-affiliated in-person meetings:


● You must record the date, time, and location you are meeting your mentee ○ If you wish to meet them outside your allocated mentor/mentee time, you do not need to record the meeting. However, non-BTH affiliated activities and interactions are not under BTH’s supervision and Bridge The Heart is not legally responsible for these activities. Therefore, please engage in responsible activities at your own discretion.
● You may not meet your mentee at either of your homes. You must meet in public spaces.
● You may only meet your mentee from 9 am- 6 pm on any given day.
● You may not participate in substance abuse and any illegal activities under Canadian laws.
● You may not have other unaffiliated people participating in your meetings (unless approved by the BTH executives and with your mentee’s consent).

For BTH-affiliated online meetings:


● You must record meeting times for email, social media, video chats, etc.
● You are not to share any of your mentee's contact information.
● You must not participate in illegal online activities under Canadian laws or cyberbullying.

*If Code of Conduct guidelines are not met, mentors will be removed from the program, and further legal actions may follow.

General Expectations: (Mentees)


● If you choose to, you do not have to meet your mentor in person.
● An orientation will be arranged for you to meet your mentor. Your parent/guardian is welcome to attend this meeting.
● Your mentor will keep your information and conversations confidential but must report to the BTH executives anything that puts you or others in danger.

For BTH-affiliated in-person meeting times:
